A restaurant HR manager is responsible for overseeing all human resource functions within a restaurant, including recruitment, employee onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns and maintaining a positive workplace culture; essentially managing all aspects of staffing to support the smooth operation of the restaurant. Key responsibilities of a restaurant HR manager: Recruitment and Hiring:Â Posting job openings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions for all restaurant positions. Onboarding and Training:Developing and implementing comprehensive onboarding programs for new employees, including company policies, safety procedures, and job-specific training. Employee Relations:Addressing employee concerns, mediating disputes, and maintaining positive relationships within the team. Performance Management:Â Conducting performance reviews, setting goals, providing feedback, and identifying areas for development. Compliance with Labor Laws:Ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws regarding minimum wage, overtime, workplace safety, and discrimination. Payroll and Benefits Administration:Â Managing payroll processing, benefits enrollment, and ensuring accurate timekeeping. Policy Development:Creating and updating employee handbooks and policies aligned with company goals and legal requirements. Staff Scheduling:Â Collaborating with managers to create staff schedules based on restaurant needs and labor costs. Employee Engagement Initiatives:Â Implementing programs and activities to promote employee morale and retention. Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven experience in recruitment and selection processes Ability to manage employee relations and resolve conflicts effectively Experience in training and development programs Proficiency in HR software and systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team Prior experience in the restaurant industry is preferred
